WEDNESDAYS WITH ALDI: I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE ASSIGNMENT lol

The mission was simple, get a Salt n Peppa shaker set for a Christmas present, a couple items for dinners this week, and some jeggings to see if I could shoehorn myself into 'em lol 🤣  

I set off today armed with a *small* shopping list and a $5 off coupon, so today was gonna be an inexpensive day.

I saw the jeggings and snagged a couple pair in my size.  I lamented that the other colors did *not* come in my size; however, I was determined to make it happen so I snagged a couple of those too lol (Note previous purchase: Aldi Christmas Tree Truck comforter! lol)

I quickly ran down the Aldi Finds aisle bc I knew there was tooooooooooooooooons of cute stuff, and I especially have a weakness for gnomes.  I was on the hunt for weeks for the Aldi gnome porch sign when I saw people buying it in another Aldi group, and my Aldis didn't have them.  I searched for weeks and weeks and finally gave up all hope.  And welp, the very last item in the aisle was that very same gnome porch sign that I had hunted for.  He decided to jump in my cart, and I wasn't going to be rude and kick him out lol

In my search for a Raspberry Kringle (to no avail : ( might I add) I came across these monstrous croissants (DVD for scale lol) and decided these were a must have consolation prize.

All of my Aldis (6 within a 10 mile radius lol) have been out of whipped cream cheese for MONTHS and I subsist on this stuff.  This may explain why I need the largest sized jeggings but I digress...so I did what any whipped cream cheese loving girl would do and snatched me a months worth! lol  I also nabbed some Egg Nog, cuz I was feeling festive and whatnot lol

Sooooo my inexpensive day with the short shopping list and a $5 coupon didn't understand the assignment lol However, I did say no to sooooooo many other gnome items and did come in under $100 so I'm gonna count that as a win in my book : )

WEDNESDAYS WITH ALDI: PJS & GNOMES EDITION lol

So I really really wanted the Star Wars adult PJs in XL & 2XL

I went to the first Aldi and they only had Christmas Vacation in larger sizes so I grabbed an XL, and then one of those cute ceramic gnome lights, and the Christmas car sheets!  Then I saw the "secret items" not on the Aldi website: the gnome holiday sign and a gnome tin!  Didn't even know what was in the tin but I grabbed it anyway!  I figured it had popcorn in it, and I was just gonna make the Hubster eat it lol

Went to the second store, same thing no XL or 2XL SW jammies *however* they did have the ladies gnome jammies (another secret item!) so I grabbed those! lol

Third store didn't have ANY Star Wars jammies or anything I actually wanted so I kept on trucking lol

The fourth store didn't have SW in XL or 2XL so I grabbed a L out of desperation and hoped it was generous in size.  Also I decided how many times can a person say no to the cute gnome blanket, and apparently four was not the number so I grabbed one of those too lol 

Fifth store, no XL or 2XL and then I realized that at the first Aldi I had actually grabbed the Christmas Vacation jammies in 2XL by mistake so I grabbed them in a XL.   I also grabbed groceries because I was running out of stores to go to and frankly at this point I didn't even remember what I was hunting for anymore lol 

I get home and post to the Yinzer Aldi group and asked if anybody saw the SW jammies in XL or 2XL only to find out they only went up to size L to begin with lol  

The whole time I felt like Hansel and Gretel because each store had one more thing I was looking for...or ended up needing lol 🤣😆

I'm still super bummed I didn't find larger sized Star Wars jammies; however,  I was able to score some on Kohl's website for a small fortune-at least twice as much as Aldi's price!  Oh well, they're cute and hopefully comfy lol

PSA: LADIES, DON'T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR TOPS OFF TO PROTECT YOUR SHEZEBOS! lol 😂

RIP Sheila G. Zebo 06.03.20-12.17.20

After a valiant struggle, Sheila (of Pittsburgh) died peacefully in her sleep of SNOVID, surrounded by her family, who lovingly referred to her as SheZebo. She weathered many storms in her short life, and is survived by her partner Al Di Grill, and numerous ottoman, rugs and other outdoor patio items.

While she was struck down much too soon and still in her prime, she provided countless hours of comfort both day and night to her family during the pandemic. Family fondly remembers the hours spent in her shade, while floating in their Aldi pool listening to the Hamilton soundtrack.

Viewing hours are between dawn and dusk, and a service will be held Saturday 12.19.20, when she will be sent to her final resting place in the recycling bin.

In lieu of flowers, please send Aldi Peanut Butter Cups-they were her favorite.

Sheila did not give away her shot to keep us all satisfied, and she was non-stop. When I saw her collapsed, the world turned upside down, I felt helpless and I asked myself what did I miss? I screamed stay alive! I should have told her to meet me inside and that would have been enough, and now I'm so blue. I should not have said no to this as our deck was the room where it happened. She was our right hand man and like a hurricane she had blown us all away. We know you were our obedient servant, best of gazebos and best of women. If we take a break, then wait for it-she'll be back! Sheila, history has its eyes on you and what comes next. We thought the world was wide enough and that we had more time with you. Raise a glass to Sheila, who taught us how to say goodbye. We will tell your story.

While Sheila could never be replaced, we are happy to report that in May 2021 we adopted her cousin Sheena lol

WEDNESDAYS WITH ALDI: Groceries lol

 

My store had a nice smattering of advent calendar stuff left if anybody is still looking.

I really really wanted the Elf one but couldn't justify $30 considering it doesn't even have candy in it lol

The Star Wars one was super cute cuz it had The Mandalorian in a scarf, and Baby Yoda in a Christmas sweater lol

Nonetheless, I only bought groceries not one single thing from the AOS lol I did get the Elf creamer.

I don't normally use flavored creamers because I get a bit heavy handed with them and my doctor will kill me for drinking that much sugar first thing in the morning; however, I know a mom who is collecting creamer lids because they are her autistic son's favorite thing so who am I to say no to helping with that?! lol

WEDNESDAYS WITH ALDI: Coffee Edition lol

Well today was completely uneventful lol I was the only one there at 9 am, the gnome mat I wanted was on top, and after a cursory glance of the AOS, I decided I was done shopping and checked out by 9:10 am 😂 Oh I did pick through all the coffee bottles to find six of the vanilla ones. There's my highlight for the day lol

Was anybody's Wednesday Morning With Aldi more exciting than mine? lol😂🤣

WEDNESDAYS WITH ALDI: ADVENT CALENDAR EDITION 😂

 

This week was rather tame despite the potential Advent Calendar frenzy lol I was late to my local store...meaning I arrived at 9:10 am lol I was able to snag one of the Gnome Advent Calendars-yah! Even got some food lol

I *heart* the Thanksgiving ravioli! I make it with a side of stuffing-just back the carb truck up 😂 I snagged two for the heck of it : ) What's the deal with no vanilla coffee though? For weeks now they've only had the Mocha flavor, which is okay, and Coffee flavored-I mean who wants to drink coffee flavored coffee? lol I hope this doesn't mean they are discontinuing the vanilla which is the best one-IMHO. Has anybody seen the vanilla at their stores?

WEDNESDAYS WITH ALDI: NO PLACE LIKE GNOMES😂

 

Y'all this was one for the books! lol

All I wanted was the orange hatted gnome.

Went to four local Aldis and only one had gnomes and it wasn't Mr. Orange but I grabbed a consolation gnome just in case lol

Then I got a tip that the Latrobe Aldi had some so I hightailed it up there and there was only one left, still not Mr. Orange, but I grabbed him and a hedgehog with a bowtie for good luck.

Was on my way to the Garfield Aldi (no gnomes!) and Paula said she just saw some at McKees Rocks and they had Mr. Orange! I asked her to pretty please grab him (and the cute lil purple wizard one too-why not!?! lol) because there was no way I would get there before he was sold because I was coming from Latrobe! Thankfully, she graciously grabbed those two and PMed me her address, I PMed her backand I was on my way!

I get to the address and went to message her that I was there and noticed that my previous message said: "I don't know where McKees Rocks is but God said I should be there in 20 minutes"

Oh my lort she must think I'm some kinda nut that I think God tells me how far away things are!!!?!?! lol so I responded:"Umm not God *GPS lol what is wrong with autocorrect altho God is kinda like GPS lol"

Mercifully she gave me the benefit of the doubt I wasn't a whackadoo and still met me for the handoff! lol

ALDI FRIDGE MAKEOVER lol

 So I bought some of those cute fridge organizer trays yesterday.

Today I figured I'd put some things in them and go about my day.  I was gonna have one of those "get $h!t done days" that I always hear people talking about.

But then I looked at my fridge with everything akimbo and no rhyme or reason to it and thought "this must be what the fridge of a psychopath looks like."  So I started organizing a little.

I figured since I'm organizing I might as well clean a little too.

I threw a couple things away that were past their prime.

I wiped down the shelves.

While I'm at it I might as well pull the shelves out for a more thorough clean.

Y'all two hours in I got this thing down to the bare bones! I removed every piece I could figure out how to take out! 

I'm cleaning crevices that I didn't even know existed.

I got parts soaking, parts in the dishwasher.

My kitchen looks like the fridge exploded with its parts everywhere!

  Even Richard Pryor got involved.

I swear I saw God at one point this was such a spiritual experience-I felt this cleaning in my soul!! 

I rethought the entire way I was organizing my refrigerator all my life was all wrong and realized I needed more containers!  Funny, considering yesterday morning I didn't even know I needed any containers, and now I don't have enough!

I went to my closest Aldi (a mile away lol), and they only had the small ones left.  

I drove to my next Aldi (another mile away lol) and they had one of the larger bins left so I snapped that puppy up and treated myself with some Pumpkin Spice Special K-wth you only live once! lol

I had to go into town so I figured I'd stop at their Aldi-and they had three large bins left so I snagged those too. And rewarded myself with some Pumpkin Spice donuts for my trouble lol  

 At this point I thought "you know what!  You need the egg holder too bc that way you can always tell at a glance how many eggs you have because it is clear!" Even though this morning I thought the idea of transferring eggs from the perfectly fine container they come in, to another container was stupid but the Aldi magic had its hooks in me and wasn't letting go until I had that egg holder and of course this store didn't have any!

So back towards home I stopped at my first local Aldi because I remembered they had egg bins from my earlier trip, and I figured now that I had a clean and organized fridge, maybe I should get some respectable groceries for it too.  Also, because do I want to be remembered as the weird lady who stopped in twice in one day just to buy fridge organizers?!?

Thankfully, once I was home the Aldi spell was broken and I came back to my senses that no, in fact I did NOT need a fancy clear bin to put my eggs in even if it was cute, so that bin will be released back into the wild when I visit Aldi again.

Welp, this is it y'all.  This is what took up the better part of my day lol

WEDNESDAYS WITH ALDI: Refrigerator trays! lol

 

Welp, I really wasn't going to go to Aldi today as nothing really caught my eye in the ad:

• I don't buy candles because I seem to accidentally cause fires lol
• I have all the decorative signs a girl could own (and maybe a few too many if I was being truthful-which I am not! 😂)

However, I had a couple of jeggings to return since last weeks trip to buy said jeggings turned out in disappointment as I couldn't squeeze myself into them 😕

I was out and about anyway, so I stopped by to return the jeggings and to check out the stock in the AOS to report back to my local Aldi Yinzer group in case anybody needed to find something that their Aldi was out of.

I saw those refrigerator organizing trays and just had to get myself a few because our frig always seems to be out of control!!  I blame Tracy from the Yinzer group because that was her "must-have" purchase today. 😂

To be able to justify that I was "grocery shopping" I even picked up a couple food items too lol

WEDNESDAYS WITH ALDI: JEGGINGS! lol

 I scored some pants-yah! If you would have told me two years ago I was gonna start buying my pants 👖 exclusively from a grocery store I would have laughed  🤣🤣🤣 

I also got some food too, not pictured 😂  

I started getting these jeggings during the pandemic and haven't turned back. They are my "going out of the house pants" which frankly I don't do very often, and the Aldi leggings are my "inside the house pants" It's quite a system I got going.  Follow me for for fashion advice lol

*UPDATE*

Ok after just trying them on, I gotta report that these are NOT the same size of my other Aldi jeggings that I got last year, and despite trying to squeeze myself into them, it wasn't happening. Too much junk in the trunk lol The ones I got last year had a bit more spandex in them so they were a tad more <ahem> accommodating lol 

I'm super sad bc I only have the dark blue and green ones from last year, and they had dummy front pockets whereas these have all 5 real pockets!! 

Unfortunately, these are going back : ( I knew I should have grabbed some maternity jeggings (despite not being pregnant) last week when I had a chance! 😂

These are 100% acceptable for day drinking lol

No judgement, I'm just always amazed what I end up finding when I fall down the rabbit hole that is the internet lol

Meet Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

They are my Aldi Christmas succulents.

  With names like that, you'd think that if they can withstand fire, they can withstand living in our house.

Cut to I just came back from a three week vacation where I left specific watering instructions for The Hubster.  By specific, I mean last minute at the airport as he was dropping me off "oh, water the plants."  Now they look like they went through an actual fire lol 

Keep in mind that The Hubster is the guy who gives lasts rites when I put plants in our shopping cart.

Truth is, that before I left I had still been watering them; however, I wasn't really sure if they were still alive lol  But they were at least still green-ish when I was watering them!  Now Shadrach and Abednego are complete toast.  

Meshach has possibilities...who am I kidding...if he has any hope at survival I need to get him a foster home STAT lol

The truth of the matter is I have committed serial plantslaughter my whole life, and Aldi plants actually hold up longer that most.  I am a whiz though with bouquets!  I can keep a bouquet of dead plants looking alive and beautiful for weeks-and Aldi bouquets I can get away with a month!  And they even die pretty nice so sometimes I just leave em in the vase because Aldi's dead bouquets look better than my living plants lol

RDJ CHALLENGE #11 "THAT'S ADEQUATE" REVIEW

Catching up on some of Robert Downey Jr's earlier films for the RDJ Challenge.  I found That's Adequate on YouTube. 

It was another 80s campy film.  It's an 80s mockumentary about a film studio.  It had an all-star cast; however, I couldn't really get through all of it.  I just wasn't in the mood for that goofy of a movie, so I just forwarded to RDJ's part lol
