For those unfamiliar with it, it is basically "campfire food". I made them a lot when I was little and stayed at my best friends campground. You use a Mountain Pie "iron" (aka as a Toas-tite) which is basically like a panini press on a long stick. You put bread on it and then fill it with whatever ingredients you want: pizza toppings, pie filling, s'mores fixings-you name it! As long as the items are already cooked of course because you are basically just toasting the bread and melting whatever is inside lol

I recently had a chance to relive some of those whimsical Mountain Pie making memories when a member of my local Buy Nothing Project group was giving away a MP iron. My friend in the group who was from Boston had never heard of them before, and she was moving away, so I thought it would be a fun thing to do before she left.
it was a fun experience and I am glad Sara got to see what it was all about; however, as an adult I realize that it basically turns making a four minute grilled cheese sandwich into a twenty minute production lolol
We have always just used bread but I do wanna try making quesadilla ones with tortillas and taco ingredients to see how that might turns out!
